Zakynthos International Airport Reviews 2017
Zakynthos International Airport, a Greek airport also known as “Zante” or “Dionysos Solomos Airport,” opened and began operations in 1972. Public airport ZTH is located in Zakynthos Island on the west coast of the country. In 2008, the airport was replaced with a brand-new airport to accommodate the increase in passenger traffic. Interestingly enough, airplanes are not permitted to depart or land between 10pm – 5am – with a few exceptions – due to the endangered loggerhead turtles on the beaches.

Reviews – What People Are Saying
Based on 26 Zakynthos International Airport reviews, the Greek island airport was given a 2/10-star rating, an obviously low score. The most recent Zakynthos International Airport reviews rated ZTH with 1 or 2 stars.
One of the Zakynthos International Airport reviews wrote, “Things have improved vastly since the new terminal opened and the new baggage claim is very good far faster than Edinburgh or Glasgow. Return journeys can be a bit of a pain but the new departure lounge is reasonably good. Airport staff we’ve found to be generally polite and helpful. Our tips for a happier return trip: Buy any food or drink in your resort. Don’t be in a rush to go through security to the departure lounge – it’s much nicer outside or in the check-in hall.” Zakynthos International Airport reviews found the food expensive, amenities limited, and the toilets poorly kept.
Zakynthos International Airport has a single terminal with “limited” services and establishments. You can’t stay overnight at ZTH; there are a number of nearby hotels you can spend the night in for uninterrupted sleep.
There are two bars, a Duty Free shop, and a Duty Free store inside. The following are important contact numbers of the airport: Information Services (tel. +30 269 502 9500) and VIP service (+30 26950-29530.) Some companies offering rent a car services are Hertz and Europcar.
ZTH is located in the Laganas area of Zakynthos Island in the Ionian Sea. Close by to the town of Kalamaki, Zakynthos International Airport is approximately 6 km south or a 20 minute-drive from the town of Zakynthos. It is only 1 km from resort town Laganas.
Location – Traffic – Service
In 2015, Zakynthos International Airport had handled 1,268,497 passengers which was a 6.8% increase from the previous year, and 9,546 aircraft movements which was a 5.9% increase, on one runway. Zakynthos International Airport’s been described as small and overheated, though the staff are friendly albeit baggage handling and weight are stringent. People find their stay rather uncomfortable, though I think ZTH can make minor improvements.
