Recently, Fua-amotu International Airport made it to the news with updates about their main services and developments: a national project set to commence in October 2016 is aimed to improve the safety of aviation and flights in particular as a joint initiative between the Governments of New Zealand and Tonga, in which Fua-amotu International Airport is one of the airports focused on.
Also, Tonga’s two international airports had been upgraded, projected for completion by January 2016. In this $28 million upgrade project, Fua-amotu International Airport is included and by then, the airport would be able to accommodate larger aircraft and thereby encourage more international airlines to use Fua-amotu International Airport.
